Kristin is going into her Junior Year at Jacksonville
University on a Full Volleyball Scholarship
and carries a 4.0 Grade Point Average.
August 2001: Kristin is now a member of the
Jacksonville University Volleyball Team.

Kitty: Our Mother who was widowed
early and left with four children to raise.
Shown at left as a flapper, she worked her way through college by playing background music
for silent movies
at the Opera House in Waynesburg. She is shown center with our second Dad, Craig Shira, a
pharmacist and businessman from Grove City, Pa. At right, Kitty is shown with our third
Dad, Red Megyesi who retired with a
Machinery Firm in Jensen Beach. Also in this photo, are Kitty's four children: Barbara,
Sam, Dick, and Cathy.
Kitty now plays the piano for her neighbors at the
Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay in South Pasasdena, Florida.
She recently moved to the Springs and is still
playing the piano. The photo second from right was taken by the very congenial
Activities Director of The Springs Nursing Center, Betsy Lind Sanders.

The salt of the earth:
Shirley and Verl Sterns. Dr. Sterns has been an
Open-Bible Minister
for almost 50 years. Each of their four children is a graduate of Oral Roberts
University.
Three were Presidents of the Student Body. They now live in
Arkansas.
The light of the world: Dr. William Gross. Uncle Bill
is Retired Pastor of
First Presbyterian Church (51 years) of Willoughby, Ohio. He is a graduate
of Waynesburg College and Princeton Seminary. Aunt Elizabeth is on the camera!
Our favorite neighbors and Gator Fans, Linda
Judi
and Harry Newman. Harry is a very capable mariner
and Bob Goecker, both prominent educators.
and
noted authority on sailing. Judi is just wonderful.
Dave and Corey Doren: (At
right) Shown with Sam and Daisy in 1971.
Corey is another one of Daisy's beautiful sisters! Dave is a research analyst with
the Navy Training Center in Pensacola. They now have three grown children with
families of their own. Dave spends a lot of time training for triathons. He won the
50 and over Age-group title in the Sacred Heart Triathlon in 1986.
Riley
Riley and Annette Mixson: Daisy's sister and brother-in-law. Riley is a retired Admiral. In the Navy he
held major commands including CO, USS Midway and Commander, Red Sea Task Force during
Desert Storm. His Flagship, USS John F. Kennedy, may be seen on the
Navy
Links Page. At retirement, he was Director of Air Warfare. Not only is Riley a
hot pilot, outstanding ship handler, and natural leader of men, but he is a gentleman of
liberal education, refined manners, punctilious courtesy, and the nicest sense of personal
honor.
Shirley and Karl
Peterson: Karl is a retired Captain (Submarines). They live in Fox
Island, Washington and do a lot of sailing. Karl taught us all how to use the DKC in
Clamagore. In addition to his consummate skills as a mariner, he is also a gentleman of
liberal education, refined manners, punctilious courtesy, and the nicest sense of
personal honor. Karl and Shirley have just returned from a trip to Yellowstone and
Grand Teton where they took some spectacular photos. The center photo was taken 38
years ago in USS Clamagore. Setting up the movie projector is F.B. Finke. At right
is Karl's sailboat Gimlet.
Lee McCormick, M.D.: Sam's Brother-in-law. Shown with wife Barbara above, Lee is President of the
Pennsylvania Medical Society and Medical Director of McCormick Medical Associates,
which has offices in Carrick, Jefferson and Bethel Park in suburban Pittsburgh. The
practice consists of 25 family primary care providers & specialists including a
hospitalist. Lee matriculated at Washington & Jefferson and earned his M.D. from Pitt.
Barbara's Prom Date: At the
Monongahela High School Class of 1952 Prom, Barb was escorted
by Carl Vuono. Carl went on to West Point and a very distinguished career, rising to
become Army Chief

Susan Morris: Had I but world enough and time, Coy Lady, this
coyness would be no crime!!!!
Susan's husband, Dick Morris,
Sam's brother, is a Professor of MS/OR at Winthrop University. The
wedding scene is that of Susan's daughter Jane. From left, Becky Baily, Jim Baily, Cathy
Baily, Jane with her Father Dick Morris. Cathy is Dick's sister. Jim Baily is a Senior
Research Scientist with IBM. Dick is a Professor of Quantitative Methods at Winthrop
University in Rock Hill, S.C.
Bev Travis and Jimmy Moore: Two
of my best sailing friends! The photos were taken in
December 1998. At right, Jim shovels snow from Bev's driveway in Port Perry, Ontario.
Jim Withrow: Led his Lakewood
H.S. Baseball Team to the State Title. As a college player, he led the nation in home
runs. At right, Jim is shown with his wife Sally and children Scotty and Megan. Link

and Pat Heatherman, Sean's brother, with their 3 daughters. Like
Sean, Pat is a graduate of the Air Force Academy. Pat recently retired from the Air
Force and is now a pilot with United Airlines, flying out of Chicago. In addition to his consummate skills as an aviator,
he is also a gentleman of liberal education, refined manners, punctilious courtesy,
and the nicest sense of personal honor. Leslie is an angel! She has Dixie!
